Letting life drive you?
How will I feel if I live as I have for the next 5 years?
Does this thought give me an oppressive feeling? Or does my conscience kick in? Then I should ask myself whether I should become proactive.
Passive through inaction, adaptation or anger
As soon as I have the feeling that I can no longer cope with the situation, it’s time to do something and get things moving. On the other hand, by doing nothing, adapting, having heated policy discussions, throwing tantrums, being afraid or fleeing into compensation, I remain passive and change little in my life. But then I shouldn’t be surprised if I find myself in more or less the same situation in 5 years’ time from now.
Why activity is so important
Passivity means missing out on opportunities to develop personally or professionally. Being active enables me to contribute my own perspectives, gain new experiences and also make new contacts. From a company perspective, there are also good reasons to support employees in becoming active. According to the Gallup “State of the Global Workplace 2023” report, the clearer the goals and the more direction employees have, the more engaged they are in their work. Concrete targets help them to focus. This in turn promotes progress.
What can I do to get ahead?
In the UP’N’CHANGE Skill-Check, 63% of those surveyed felt that their creative power was being held back by a rather high or extremely high level of stress. Stress paralyses us and turns us from pilots of aeroplanes into passengers. To make matters worse, 42% complain of a lack of focus. Conscious decisions are important to regain control:
So what can I do specifically when I can’t see the wood for the trees? What should I focus on? What is stopping me personally from taking responsibility for my life, my goals and my actions? And how can I overcome these obstacles?
Our digital tools can help you find solutions and clarity. With the UP’N’CHANGE Goal-Finder, we have developed answers to precisely these questions, based on decades of experience. This enables us to efficiently and effectively navigate users from their lack of direction or dissatisfaction to the realisation of the area of their life in which they need to take action at the moment.
